Introduction
This interdisciplinary doctoral program integrates the fields of history, literature, and philosophy, with a strong emphasis on cross-disciplinary research. Centered on Taiwan Studies and Chinese Studies, the program adopts an East Asian perspective to explore historical transitions from tradition to modernity, cultural and intellectual developments, and the multifaceted interactions between East Asia and the wider world.
The program is supported by a distinguished faculty of over 100 scholars from Academia Sinica, National Chengchi University, and National Tsing Hua University. It offers a wide range of courses and personalized academic guidance. In addition to solid training in the humanities, students are encouraged to develop their research interests, cultivate independent thinking, and pursue original, cross-disciplinary research.
Our goal is to nurture the next generation of humanistic scholars with global perspectives and academic excellence. All admitted students will have full access to the rich academic resources of the three partner institutions and may be awarded scholarships for up to five years.
