Chinese Course
The Department of International Affairs (DIA) organizes Chinese language lessons to help members of our international community better integrate into local life.
One Academic year (2 semesters) TIGP Elementary Chinese Class is compulsory for International TIGP students. Each International TIGP student is required to take one Academic year (2 semesters) before graduating.
Elementary Level One: Autumn Semester
Elementary Level Two: Spring Semester
If you would like to improve your Chinese ability after One Academic year of Elementary Chinese class, you may take note of the following registration procedures for the Intermediate Chinese class.
Eligibility:

Academia Sinica faculty members, research assistants and postdoctoral scholars

TIGP students (Class B only)
Class Schedule:
Intermediate Class: Every Thursday, 18:30-20:30 (2 hours)
* TIGP students need to complete one academic year (2 semesters) of elementary Chinese to qualify for Intermediate Class
Registration Fees and Required Documents:

NT$2,000 deposit
Note: The deposit will be refunded if the student fulfills the requirement of attaining a C (70-79) or above in the course, and students need to attend more than 15 weeks of the class per semester (18 weeks total) to receive a full deposit refund. (Regular attendance is strongly encouraged for best learning results) -

Receiving an e-mail notification:
DIA will send an e-mail notification to confirm successful registration within one week after the registration deadline. After receiving an e-mail notification, the applicant should submit the deposit and required documents to the TIGP office (Building No. 60 on the AS Map) within one week to complete registration procedures, or else registration will be cancelled.
Important Notices:

Once successfully registered, the student is not permitted to withdraw from the class under any circumstances; the deposit will not be refunded.

To receive a full deposit refund, students need to attend more than 15 weeks of class per semester (18 weeks total). No reason for absence will be accepted. Those who have more than three absences will not be allowed to register again next semester.

At least 15 students need to register for a class to be offered. If a class fails to reach this minimum number, it will be cancelled, and all deposits will be refunded.

Students who comply with the rules will receive a full deposit refund to their post office account within two months after classes have concluded. Chunghwa Post Passbook covers are collected for this purpose.

Students are required to complete a questionnaire and submit it to the TIGP Office when the class ends.

Auditing classes is not permitted.

If you register after classes have begun, classes missed will be counted as absent. Please consider this factor before registering.
