A candidate with a bachelor’s (B.S.) and/or master’s (M.S.) degree are eligible to apply.
While most TIGP programs/partner universities in TIGP do accept applicants with only a BS degree, applicants are strongly advised to check out detailed requirements stated on programs’ websites to verify their eligibility for application.
TIGP provides fellowship support of NT$34,000 (about US$1,130) per month for all graduate students during the first year of their enrollment. The support will be extended for another two years upon evidence of satisfactory progress towards the degree. In subsequent years, the financial support will be provided by the student’s thesis advisor. The amount of the support will be at the discretion of the advisor.
Yes. Programs may differ in their standardized test score requirements (English proficiency; GRE subject exam scores) as well as in other detailed criteria. Please check out program's website for program-specific requirements as you prepare your application.
To apply for admission, there is no set requirement for research experience. In some cases, demonstrated research experience (e.g., in publications or other supporting documentation) generally, may serve to strengthen a candidate's application profile.
If you are currently a student who will graduate soon, in the Education Background section, please choose the "will be obtained" option and fill in the expected month/year in which you will obtain your diploma/degree certificate. Once you are conferred the diploma/degree, we would strongly suggest that you submit an electronic scanned file of the diploma to your program’s secretary as soon as possible to complement your application.
The test of English proficiency can be exempted for applicants who graduated from universities where English is the primary language of instruction if the applicant provides an official certification issued by the university's office of registrar. However, the eligibility of exemption is subject to each program, and the program's admission committee reserves the right to request the applicant to submit an English proficiency test score (TOEFL or IELTS) should the committee assess that a test score is necessary for evaluation.
If you apply through the online system ( https://tigp.apps.sinica.edu.tw/index.php ), you will only need to submit your academic transcripts and test score(s) (IELTS/TOEFL/GRE) both online (as scanned files) and by post. The academic transcripts need to be delivered directly from the university’s office of registrar in sealed envelopes; the standardized test score(s) can be sent from the examination institution (e.g., ETS). If your test score is submitted directly from the examination institution (e.g., ETS), our institution CODE and Name are 7142 and Academia Sinica, respectively. If you have a test score at hand, you may also send your copy to TIGP Office by post. Our address is as follows:
