TIGP students have access to a number of resources, offices and services on campus, many of which are also detailed in the TIGP student handbook. Some major items of interest include:

  1. Library
    Academia Sinica ID card holders have access to a host of libraries located in various home institutes and centers on campus. For detailed information about the locations, hours and services of specific libraries, please visit

  2. Dining on campus
    a few restaurants are conveniently located right on the Academia Sinica campus:
    • Chinese restaurant located on the first floor of the Activities Center, serves Chinese-style breakfast, lunch buffet, quick meals, noodles, snacks; banquet catering also available

    • Coffee shop located on the first floor of the Activities Center, offers hot and cold beverages, cakes, and a variety of set meal items (rice, noodles, sandwiches, seafood, steaks, etc.)

    • European-style restaurant located behind the Activities Center, features a salad bar, soup, and entrées for lunch and dinner

    an on-campus sports center hosts facilities for a variety of athletic activities:

    the Activities Center on campus offers four types of gues accommodations: standard single room, standard double room, superior single room, superior double room

  7. Post Office & Banking services
    Chunghwa Post is Taiwan's national postal service, as well as a provider of basic banking services. All TIGP students will need to open a bank account with Chunghwa Post because the program monthly stipend will be paid by direct transfer into this account. Accounts can be opened at any branch of Chunghwa Post--all post offices in Taiwan belong to this system--which you will recognize by the sign: A Chunghwa Post office is conveniently located on the Academia Sinica campus, close to the Central Administration Building. hours of service:

    • banking services (2nd floor): Mon - Fri 8.00 - 17.00; Sat 8.30 - 12.00

    To open a Chunghwa Post bank account

    1. Bring the following documents
      1. Alien Resident Certificate (ARC);
      2. passport;
      3. stamp (chop) with your official Chinese name chopped on it
    2. Fill out two (2) copies of the bank account application form
    3. Fill out one copy of the ATM card application
    4. Fill out one copy of the cash deposit form and make an initial deposit of at least NT$100 on opening the account.

  8. Sifen Bookstore
    located in the basement of the Activities Center on campus; 15% discount for Academia Sinica employees, including students with Academia Sinica ID

    founded in 1969 to serve children whose parents work at Academia Sinica; children of age 3-6 years eligible for enrollment. The kindergarten is located on campus, behind the Institute of Zoology
